Fire crews from Exmouth, Middlemoor and Sidmouth along with a supporting Officer attended a domestic property fire in West Hill Lane, Budleigh Salterton.  

On arrival crews confirmed there was smoke smoke and flames issuing from the ground floor window and got to work firefighting using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one main jet.  

Final details ... this was a fire involving a two storey domestic property measuring approximately 18m x 18m.  Fire located in the ground floor study.  Equipment used ... twelve breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, three thermal imaging cameras, one safety jet and a positive pressure fan, casualty care equipment and small tools.  Male occupant suffering from smoke inhalation, he was checked over by Amb personnel and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check.    One pet dog rescued from the property and crews carried out rescuscitation and a pet oxygen therapy mask was used. The dog was then transported to a local veterinary practice for further observations.  It is now at home safe and well.  

Ground floor 30% damaged damaged by fire, rest of property 100% damaged by smoke.  The cause of the fire was accidental.
