Property fire

3 fire appliances from Barnstaple and Braunton were mobilised following a call from staff at a factory on Riverside Road at Pottington Business Park, Barnstaple, stating that paper had caught fire in a spray booth. 

On arrival of the first fire appliance from Barnstaple they confirmed a large amount of smoke was issuing from the building and, after liaising with staff, located the fire which was well developed. Crews initially set to work with 1 hose reel jet and 2 firefighters in breathing apparatus but this was increased to 4 wearers and 2 hose reel jets. They worked well to bring the fire under control, which involved paint thinners and primer, both highly flammable substances and confirmed it was extinguished at 0844hrs. However crews remained on scene stripping back ceiling material and searching the roof void, with 2 firefighters in breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera, for any possible fire spread or hotspots, as well as ventilating the premises using a positive pressure ventilation fan. 

This incident is now complete and, after 2 revisits later in the day, duty of care was handed over to site managers. There were no injuries and this incident is now complete.
