Hazardous materials

Fire control received a call from ambulance requesting attendance at a chemical leak within a commercial business in Exmouth.

Control mobilised 2 fire appliances from Exmouth and Middlemoor, an Environment Protection Unit and support appliance from Newton Abbot and 2 supporting officers.

Once on scene, crews confirmed they were providing first aid to 1 person whilst setting up equipment preparing to investigate incident. 

Once further fire and ambulance resources were in attendance, the fire crews dealt with the leak and provided decontamination for casualties who required it.

Ambulance crews attended to support the treatment of people affected by the spill. 1 person was conveyed to hospital whilst multiple other people were assessed at the scene.
