Fire control received reports of a fire in the open this afternoon in the area of Holwell Hill, Frome. A fire engine was mobilised from Frome station. 

Upon their attendance, crews could not find any signs of fire at the location, but did see smoke in the distance to which they proceeded to investigate. 

They then discovered a vehicle in a field which was well alight. Fire crews from Frome requested another fire engine to attend and a fire engine from Shepton Mallet was mobilised. 

The highway was closed, but has now re-opened. Fire crews have used one hose reel jet and one thermal imaging camera so far to extinguish the fire. 

It is believed that firefighting has now concluded, however this incident will be updated in due course. 

Update at 16:12pm - this incident has now come to a close, with no further equipment being used.
