Fire control received a call to an Road traffic collision on the M5 between Cullompton and Sowton.
3 fire engines from Danes castle, Middlemoor and Cullompton attended the incident alongside 2 officers.
On arrival crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to extricate the trapped casualty, the casualty is now in the hands of South west ambulance service.
The M5 in both directions remains closed.
