Property fire
Fire control received a call from the owner of a farm stating straw was on fire in a barn in the area of Cossington near Bridgwater. Control mobilised 2 fire engines and 1 water bowser from Bridgwater along with 2 supporting officers.
Once on scene crews confirmed they had been met with 2 piles of hay and 1 baler on fire. Due to this, the incident commander requested 2 further appliances which came from Taunton and Street.
Crews confirmed they were making steady progress fighting the fire using 3 hose reel jets and 4 breathing apparatus. The incident commander confirmed that the incident posed no threat to any farm animals and there were hazardous materials involved.
Final update - fire involved baler within barn that measured 200m by 50m consisting of approximately 15 bays. The fire caused 20% damage to baler and 5% to the barn. Crews used a total of 4 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, 2 thermal imaging cameras and drag forks. This incident was confirmed as accidental.
