Property fire

Fire control mobilised 2 fire engines to a barn fire in Hemborough just outside Dartmouth. On arrival crews asked for further assistance, so another fire engine was sent from Paignton.

This barn is approximately 25 m x 15 m and contains 70 bales of hay and farm machinery. The hay is well alight, as well as 40 per cent of the roof. Crews are currently using hose reel jets and a main jet to extinguish the fire.

0800hrs....one fire engine from Teignmouth and one fire engine from Newton Abbot remain in attendance at this incident having taken over from Dartmouth and Paignton. At present, good progress is being made by on scene crews using one 45mil jet.

Update 08:20 - Our crews have now left the scene and left the incident in the hands of the farmer. Crews assisted in removing the remaining hay into the open so it can burn under supervision.
