Property fire
Fire Control received an emergency call from the occupier of a thatched property reporting her chimney on fire in the Baltonsborough area. Crews from Glastonbury and Street were mobilised alongside with an aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater.
Once in attendance, crew confirmed this was a 2 storey detached property and that the fire was contained to the chimney. They got straight to work from the hearth and applied water externally to the chimney. Crews made good progress by monitoring the fire externally using a 135 ladder and managed to gain access to the roof space to monitor the chimney internally. The fire was extinguished using 1x hose reel jet, 1x triple extension ladder, 1x 135 ladder, 2x thermal image cameras, 1x stirrup pump and chimney rods, smoke curtains and safety working at height level 1 equipment.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
