Road traffic collision

Fire control received a call from Police reporting a 44 tonne HGV had overturned near to Langport.

Control immediately mobilised 2 fire appliances from Somerton and Bridgwater along with a heavy rescue vehicle and support vehicle from Taunton and a supporting officer.

Once on scene, crews confirmed 1 lorry had left roadway and landed on its side in a field and the driver was still within the vehicle. Crews got to work making contact with driver using triple extension ladder. 

Within 15 minutes of crews arriving, the driver was released from the vehicle uninjured using 1 triple extension ladder. Crews then got to work stemming diesel leaking from the fuel tanks. Due to the diesel leaking, environment agency were informed.
