Fire Control mobilised crews from Cullompton, Tiverton and Wellington alongside an Aerial Ladder Platform from Taunton and 2 officers to reports of a fire within a grinder in a commercial property.

At 14:52 - Crews requested an additional appliance for breathing apparatus wearers, an appliance from Middlemoor was mobilised.

At 15:00 - Crew then requested a further 2 appliances for more breathing apparatus wearers, appliances from Wellington and Taunton was mobilised alongside Incident Command Unit from Honiton and 2 more fire officers.

15:17 - Crew confirmed that there is a fire believed to be on the first floor of a 3 storey property which is spreading. 7x breathing apparatus, 1x hose reel jet, 1x covering jet, 1x safety jet and a hydrant in use.

15:25 -  Crew requested a further 2 appliances for breathing apparatus - crews from Danes Castle and Taunton On-Call was mobilised. Crew also requested the attendance of Western Power to isolate electrics to premise.

15:57 - Fire on the second floor of property involving machinery - 5x breathing apparatus, 3x hose reel jets, 1x safety jet, 2x thermal image cameras and street hydrant in use. Incident has now been sectorised

16:07 - Crew requested the attendance of the Welfare Unit from Burnham-On-Sea

16:15 - Crew requested for extra breathing apparatus cylinders - the incident support unit from Martock has been mobilised. 

17:00 - Steady progress is being made damping down hot spots - 10x breathing apparatus wearers in the risk area. crew are liaising with site management to formulate plan - environmental risk assessment has also been completed.

17:04 - Request for a 4 Pump relief was made, Crew from Clyst St George, Ottery St Mary, On-Call Middlemoor and Bampton was mobilised.

17:38 - Steady progress being made - 2x breathing apparatus now in use.

18:50 - Steady progress being made - crews are working along side on-site engineers, inspecting all machinery and buildings for any sign of fire. Thermal image camera, small tools, lighting and 1x hose reel jet in use to dampen down hot spots. 

20:28 - Crew still identifying hot spots within the building and machinery. 2x hose reel jets, thermal image camera, lighting and small tools in use to dampen down hot spots.  

21:32 - Incident now being scaled down to 3 pumps. Crews monitoring for hot spots and damping down. 2x thermal image cameras and 2x hose reel jets in use.

22:28 - Crew are making up equipment and have handed responsibility over to the on-site engineers. Crew will revisit at 07:30am. 

Crew carried out a revisit at 07:30 on 11/1/24. The fire started in the grinder on the ground floor which spread to the first floor and roof. The room of believed origin 60% damaged by fire, 20% damaged by smoke, 10% water damaged. First floor 80% fire damaged, roof 10% fire damaged. In total 10x breathing apparatus, 3x hose reel jets, 1x safety jet. 2x thermal image cameras, lighting and a nearby street hydrant was used to extinguish the fire. 
The cause of the fire was accidental.
