Vehicle fire
Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service assisted us this morning by sending 2 fire appliances from Launceston, to attend a car fire on the A30 'B' Eastbound carriageway, between Lifton and Stowford Cross junctions, along with one of our fire appliances from Okehampton.
Control received multiple calls, including one from the owner of the vehicle, for the car which had been forced to pull over onto the hard shoulder and subsequently caught fire. It was well alight on arrival of the crews, who set to work bringing it under control, with 2 firefighters in breathing apparatus using 2 hose reel jets to extinguish it.
This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 10:48hrs. Police attended to assist with traffic management and once the fire was extinguished and the vehicle/scene made safe, took duty of care over whilst the owner waited for the arrival of a recovery service.
