Fire Control received a call to reports of a fire in a property.  During the call, Control gathered information on the location of the fire within the property, to enable crews to find the source of the fire.  The occupier also stated that there were puppies within the property.

1 Fire engine from Danes Castle and 1 from Middlemoor were sent to the address.

On arrival, crews confirmed smoke issuing from a first floor window.  Crews entered the property with 4 breathing apparatus wearers and rescued 6 puppies, alive and well.

This was a domestic property, converted into 2 flats.  The fire was located in the kitchen and was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet, thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of smoke.  6 puppies and 1 adult dog were rescued and are all safe and well.

The kitchen was severely damaged by fire and the rest of the property suffered smoke damage.  An ambulance attended to check over 2 adult males suffering with slight smoke inhalation.  The cause of the fire was accidental.
