Property fire

Fire Control received a call regarding a barn full of straw well alight with fertiliser nearby. Fire Control mobilised three fire engines due to the barn being well alight. On arrival, crews requested further assistance and a further three fire engines were mobilised. The barn measures 20m X 10m and it is confirmed straw and machinery are well alight. The fire is spreading towards silage bales. Crews are using the following equipment to extinguish the fire:

• One hose reel jet
• Two breathing apparatus
• One covering jet
• Four ground monitors

The incident has been sectorised in to three sectors. 

Update 13:39pm - Officers are currently liaising with the farmer regarding cattle in a nearby shed as they may be affected by the smoke plume from the incident. 

Update 14:26pm - Crews have now carried out a tactical withdrawal due to a heavy asbestos presence in the fire. One tonne of fertiliser has also been confirmed as being involved. 

The incident is still ongoing.
