An Agricultural Baler which had caught alight during baling in a field was attended by two fire crews from Bridgwater along with a Water Bowser to provide additional water support. Crews found two seats of fire in two adjacent fields, one where the Baler had been working and also the Straw Baler itself at the location to which it had been moved. It was disconnected from the tractor prior to arrival of the Fire Service to prevent escalation. One Fire engine attended the fire in the field involving standing crops to ensure this was extinguished and the second crew attended to the Baler. Crews had to use the hydraulic ram to gain access to the source of the fire. One bale of straw was destroyed by the fire. The Baler was 20% damaged by fire. Crews dampened down the area to ensure no hotspots remained and a farmer on scene was treated for minor burns by Fire Service Personnel. The cause of the fire was accidental.
