Property fire
2 fire appliances from Yeovil and Sherborne (Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue) were mobilised to Queen Camel, Yeovil following a call from the owners of a property saying their workshop was on fire.
Shortly after arriving on scene a request from the incident ground was made for a water carrier, mobilised from Yeovil, due to the location of the property. Crews worked well to bring the fire, which started accidentally, under control and prevent it from spreading any further. However, unfortunately the building was completely destroyed. Crews used 3 main jets and a quantity of compressed air foam, together with a thermal imaging camera and ceiling hooks to extinguish the fire and make the scene safe. The electricity board attended to isolate the mains and a gas cylinder found inside the workshop was continually monitored and cooled by crews using a thermal imaging camera and hose reel jet, until they were satisfied that it was safe. There were no casualties and once the scene was made safe, duty of care was handed over to the owners.
