Vehicle fire

A fire appliance from South Molton was mobilised following a call from the owner of a car that had caught fire outside a house in Broad Close at North Molton. On arrival they confirmed the vehicle was well alight in the cul-de-sac and got to work quickly bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to nearby properties or other vehicles. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which started accidentally and caused severe damage, before using small tools to make the vehicle safe and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. Duty of care was then left with the owner awaiting recovery.
