Fire control received a couple of calls to smoke issuing from a block of flats on Cowick Street in Exeter.

Control mobilised 3 fire appliances from Danes Castle and Middlemoor fire stations, an Aerial Ladder Platform from Danes castle and a supporting officer.

Once crews arrived on scene they could confirm a small fire within a kitchen. Crews entered the property with 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and 1 triple extension ladder.

Final update - crews confirmed fire in kitchen involving cooker. The cooker was 100% damaged by fire and the kitchen was 50% damaged by smoke. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 positive pressure ventilation fan, small tools and 1 triple extension ladder. This fire was confirmed as accidental ignition.
