Property fire
Fire control received calls to the above location with flames coming from the building and banging. Three fire engines from Taunton and Bridgwater, one aerial ladder platform from Taunton and an officer were mobilised immediately.
Upon arrival of the first fire crews, a quick request for a further two fire engines was made and these both came from Wellington along with the command support vehicle from Wiveliscombe, the incident support unit from Martock and several officers. Meanwhile, crews on scene got to work with 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and 1 thermal imaging camera. Once further fire engines arrived, this was escalated to 6 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets and 3 thermal imaging cameras.
Update 04:07 - Steady progress is being made and a full search of the building has been undertaken. The incident has been sectorised for better control of the incident ground and fire investigation has started.
Update 05:36 - Equipment reduced to 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and 1 safety jet with the aerial ladder platform still in use. A relief and welfare strategy are currently being implemented for the incident ground.
Update 06:19 - The fire has now been extinguished and breathing apparatus is no longer in use. Crews are cutting away at affected areas to expose hot spots and prevent reignition.
Update 07:28 - A debrief has been carried out with crews on scene and the incident has been scaled back to two fire engines. Fire investigation is still being carried out.
Update 08:51 - Two floor traditional brick and tile construction approximately 42m by 14m used as a public house. Fire located on the first floor spreading to roof space and ground floor. One female led to safety by fire service personnel.
The fire was extinguished using an Ariel Ladder Platform and water monitor, 6 Breathing apparatus, 3 Hose reel jets, 1 covering jet, 1 safety jet, 1 105 ladder, 1 triple extension, thermal imaging camera and small tools.
20% of roof space severely damaged by fire, smoke. 10% of first floor severely damaged by fire and cutting away. 50% ground floor severely damaged by fire, smoke and water.
Cause is accidental.
