Fire Control received a call to reports of a charging battery smoking due to a fault, there was no report of fire however there was smoke within the room at the Premier Inn, Old Station Road, Yeovil. 

On arrival crews confirmed that occupants had evacuated and there was a small fire involving a Lithium battery which was out on arrival after staff members used a bucket of water to extinguish the fire. 

The  property was lightly smoke logged and Crews used two breathing apparatus to make a vent in the affected room due to windows not opening, as well as making a vent on the first floor. Crews also used smoke curtains to prevent further smoke logging of the property. 

The property was a commercial premises made of brick construction measuring approximately 25m x 25m. The affected room was a bedroom on the first floor which was 10% damaged by smoke. Crews worked to clear the smoke from the communal areas of the property to make it safe for residents to be allowed back in. 

The battery was for a power tool which was being charged on a carpeted floor and had over heated.
