Fire control received calls to a property fire on Hillyfield road, Exeter.

Two Fire engines from Middlemoor, one fire engine and the aerial ladder platform from Danes castle were initially mobilised to the incident along with an officer due to reports of smoke issuing from the middle floor of the property.

On arrival crews confirmed there was smoke issuing from the 1st floor flat window with the all residents of the property believed to be out. Once crews gained entry they confirmed that there was no persons within the property.

Crews used one door breaker and a makita saw to gain entry they then used 4 hose reel jets, 4 breathing apparatus, 1 thermal imaging camera and 1 safety jet to extinguish the fire followed by the use of a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property and clear the smoke logging.

The property was a building of residential flats consisting of three floors, measuring approximately 50m x 10m. The fire was in the bedroom of a second floor flat resulting in 100% damage by fire and light smoke logging to the rest of the flat.
