Major Incident Involving Flooding
A major incident was declared regarding flooding in the Galhampton, North Cadbury, and South Cadbury areas.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue have several resources deployed to the area to deal with the situation.
Please avoid driving through floodwater. If you come into contact with floodwater, please take necessary steps to decontaminate yourself and clothing appropriately.
Should you find yourself in an emergency situation involving floodwater, please ring 999.
Update
The Service started to receive numerous calls during the afternoon and set up a forward command point at Newton Poppleford in Devon to manage calls. Later in the afternoon another forward command point was set up at Wincanton in Somerset to manage flooding incidents in North Cadbury, Queen’s Camel, and other areas.
Working with other agencies, a rest centre was set up at Marston Magna and firefighters and other agency workers moved door-to-door to check on residents, helping them move upstairs or relocating them to the rest centre. The Service had boat and wading teams activity for a number of hours.
The major incident was stood up at 8.30pm on 9 May and stood down at 2.30am on 10 May.
