Property fire
Fire control received a call from a concerned member of public reporting smoke coming from the roof of a property on Lymington Road in Torquay this morning.
One fire engine from Torquay and one from our Paignton station was mobilised immediately.
On arrival crews confirmed there was a fire within a first floor bedroom of a dormer bungalow and committed two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus to prevent further escalation.
They extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet, one safety jet and small tools. Crews then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to dispearse smoke logging from the property.
Crews fitted a smoke alarm for the occupier and provided some fire safety advice.
The cause of the fire was accidental and crews have now left the scene.
