Fire control received a call from a member of the public reporting a vehicle on fire outside a property on the A358 in Tytherleigh.

Control immediately mobilised a crew from Axminster.

Once on scene crews confirmed a vehicle off the main road with a fire within the engine bay. Crews immediately got to work with 1 Hose Reel Jet to prevent escalation.

Once the fire was fully extinguished crews monitored the heat within the engine bay using 1 Thermal Imaging Camera - applying water to continue cooling and preventing re-ignition.

Crews used 1 Hose Reel Jet, 1 Thermal Imaging Camera, Small Tools and some Environmental spill Pads to prevent oil run off entering the drains.

Fortunately due to the quick thinking actions of the vehicle owner and a passer by using dry Powder extinguishers this incident only caused around 10% fire damage to the engine bay of the vehicle.

The vehicle was left in the hands of the owner to arrange recovery.
