Property fire
Fire Control received a call to reports of smoke issuing from a flat in Paignton.
At the time of the call, it was unsure as to whether any persons were inside, so was treated as a possible persons reported fire.
2 fire engines from Paignton, 1 from Torquay, along with their aerial ladder platform and 1 fire engine from Totnes attended.
On arrival, crews confirmed smoke issuing from the top floor of a block of flats.
Firefighters made entry into the property with 4 breathing apparatus wearers, 2 hose reel jets, 1 covering jet and 1 safety jet. A thorough search of the premises was made and no persons were found to be inside of the property.
This was a fire in a block of flats, consisting of 3 floors, measuring approx 15m by 40m. The fire was located in the bedroom area and was extinguished using 4 breathing apparatus wearers, 2 hose reel jets, 1 safety jet, 1 covering jet, 1 thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and small tools. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of any smoke. The bedroom sustained approx 25% fire damage and 100% smoke damage.
The cause is under investigation.
