Fire control received multiple calls to a vehicle fire on the A30 near to Monkton.

Control mobilised 2 fire appliances from Honiton and Chard.

Once on scene, crews confirmed 1 vehicle was well alight and crews were making attempts to extinguish using 2 Breathing Apparatus and 1 Hose Reel Jet.

Update 18:00 - Crews confirmed the fire to be out. Due to this vehicle being a hybrid, crews used a fog spike to cool battery whilst standing behind a cordon and monitoring the battery from a distance using 1 thermal imaging camera.

Final update - Crews confirmed vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. Crews used 2 BA, 1 CAFS jet, 1 hose reel jet and 1 fog spike. Crews monitored vehicle until battery lowered to an ambient temperature. This incident was confirmed as accidental.
