Property fire

Three fire engines attended a report of black smoke issuing from the upstairs windows of a property in Stiby Road, Yeovil where the occupant was still believed to be inside.  This was a fire involving a portable gas cooker and contents in the kitchen on the ground floor of a semi detached property of two storeys.  10% fire damage and 90% smoke damage to the kitchen and 5% smoke damage to the remainder of the property.  Crews extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one safety jet, one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure fan.  The occupant of the property self evacuated.  The cause of the fire was accidental.
