Fire control received a call from a concerned member of the public who could smell gas in their property but was unsure whether it was coming from an internal or external source.

One fire engine from Glastonbury station, one from Street and an environmental protection unit was mobilised from Taunton in support.

On arrival crews were quickly able to establish that the smell was coming from an external source from a neighbouring property, where workmen had accidentally damaged a gas pipe.

The utilities company were contacted by fire control to attend the incident whilst crews set up a safety cordon awaiting their arrival.

The utilities company are now on scene and dealing with the incident and our crews have left duty of care with them.

These are the final details for this incident.
