Fire control sent fire appliances to a property after a caller stated there was a fire in the kitchen and the 2 occupants had evacuated.
On arrival the crews confirmed there was a fire in the kitchen of the private 10m by 10m bungalow caused by tea towels on the hob which were now alight. The fire was quickly under control and the house was being ventilated. 2 breathing apparatus sets, 1 attack jet, 1 safety jet and a thermal imaging camera were used.
An additional fire engine from Teignmouth was requested to bring a positive pressure ventilation fan to help with clearing smoke from the property. Both gas and electric were isolated at the property and an ambulance requested as a precaution to check the occupants for smoke inhalation.
