Property fire
Fire Control received a call from the occupier of a property saying there was a fire inside.
2 fire engines from Bridgwater were sent to the location.
On arrival, crews confirmed that there was a fire in the lounge area. All persons were accounted for.
Firefighters got to work with 2 breathing apparatus wearers and 1 hose reel jet. Crews administered oxygen therapy to one occupant suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
This was a semi detached property measuring approx 10m by 8m with a fire in the lounge caused by an electric blanket. The fire was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of smoke. The neighbouring property was also checked for any fire spread. The lounge area sustained approx 30-40% fire damage and the rest of the property suffered smoke damage.
Western Power attended to isolate the premises of electrics.
The occupier was checked over by paramedics for the smoke inhalation and also 1 cat was rescued from the premises.
The cause was accidental.
