Property fire
2 fire appliances from Glastonbury and Street, together with a Water Carrier from Bridgwater and Incident Support Unit from Martock, were mobilised following a call from the police who had come across a large fire at a stable block on Common Moor Drove in Glastonbury in the early hours of this morning. The fire was well alight on our arrival and crews quickly brought it under control using main jets and compressed air foam.
Crews worked well to surround the fire and prevent it from spreading, making good and steady progress to extinguish it. At 04:50hrs they confirmed the fire was out and the incident under control. The stable block, made of wood, with a tin roof and measuring 25m x 4m, was 75% damaged by fire. The cause was unknown and the incident left in the hands of the Police to investigate. Luckily there were no horses involved.
