Vehicle fire
Fire Control received multiple calls to reports of a vehicle on fire in the Castle Street area of Torquay this evening.
One fire engine from our Torquay station was immediately mobilised.
On arrival crews confirmed this vehicle to be well alight and set to work with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet. Police were requested to attend the scene to assist as the vehicle was in a precarious position on the highway and believed to have been abandoned with no owner on site.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire crews and is believed to have been deliberately set.
The vehicle has been destroyed by the fire and police are looking to arrange recovery.
Our fire crews have no left the scene in the hands of the police.
