Fire control received one call to black smoke inside of a church on Little Dock Lane in Plymouth.

Control mobilised 3 fire appliances from Crownhill, Camels Head and Greenbank, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform from Torquay and a supporting officer.

Once on scene, crews confirmed smoke issuing from basement of building. Crews had 1 45mm jet, 1 covering jet and 1 hose reel jet in use.

Shortly after arriving on scene, crews sent a message to control making pumps 4 for breathing apparatus and personnel. This 4th appliance was also mobilised from Greenbank.

Update @ 10:28 - crews sent a further message to control to make pumps 6 for personnel. This mobilised 2 further appliances from Plympton and Yelverton, 1 incident command unit from Honiton and 2 further supporting officers.

Update at 10:33 - crews discovered 2 seats of fire in lower ground floor of building. Crews were at work with 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 45mm jet and 1 45mm safety jet. Crews confirmed electric had been isolated and the incident has been sectorised.

Update @ 11:11 - crews confirmed all persons were accounted for and electric was isolated but not made safe. 1 seat of fire was under control. Crews had 4 BA, 2 hose reel jet, 2x 51mm attack jets, 1x 51mm safety jet, thermal imaging camera and small tools in use. Crews were also formulating a salvage plan.

Update @ 11:29 - Crews were at work salvaging property and damping down hotspots and turning over. Crews also were exposing and examining area for fire spread. Crews still had 4 BA, 2 hose reel jets, 1 safety jet and small tools in use.

Update @ 12:14 - crews requested a structural engineer to attend due to significant fire damage to first floor causing concerns for structural safety of the building.

Final update @ 12:51 - fire in lower ground floor of building measuring approx. 12 x 13 meters. Crews used a total of 10 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, 3 51mm jets, thermal imaging camera, small tools and cutting away equipment. Gas and electric have been isolated and water board on scene isolating water supply. The property suffered 80% fire damage to the lower ground floor, 100% smoke damage to remainder of property. 1 fire appliance were remaining on scene to assist with fire investigation.
