Property fire
Fire control received multiple calls to a fire involving sheds in Helwell Bay in Watchet.
Control initially mobilised 2 fire appliances from Williton but due to number of calls being received in the control room, control mobilised a 3rd appliance which was mobilised from Minehead. A supporting officer was also mobilised at this stage.
Once on scene, crews sent an assistance message to control requesting a 4th appliance and a water carrier. Control mobilised the 4th appliance also from Minehead and a water carrier from Bridgwater.
Update 20:52 - 2 sheds and 1 caravan involved in fire. Crews are at work extinguishing the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 2 attack jets and 1 hose reel jet.
Update 21:05 - breathing apparatus has been increased to 4 wearers and 2 attack jets and 1 hose reel jet still in use. Crews also confirm that power lines are now involved in fire.
Update 21:30 - crews making good progress with 4 BA still in use. Crews have increased attacks jets to 3 and now also using thermal imaging camera.
Local residents to Helwell Bay in Watchet are advised to keep all windows and doors closed.
Final update 23:35 - Crews confirmed fire is now out. This fire involved sheds and a static caravan which was completely destroyed by fire. Crews used 4 BA, 3 attack jets, 1 hose reel jet, 1 thermal imaging camera and a gas monitor throughout the incident. Water was supplied to the incident through a suitable hydrant so the water bowser was stood down on route. Crews believed this fire to have been set deliberately so Police have been made aware.
