Two fire engines were sent to a report of a single vehicle road traffic accident on the A386 just outside Hatherleigh.
On arrival crews confirmed that there was still one person physically trapped inside vehicle. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the casualty, who was taken to hospital via Air Ambulance.
