3 fire appliances from our Exeter stations at Danes Castle and Middlemoor were mobilised following a call from an elderly resident who's cooker was on fire. Fire Control made sure they were safely able to evacuate their property at the time of call and crews were on scene within minutes.

This incident is complete and was brought under control at 1325hrs. Swift entry, to the 3 storey block of flats, by firefighters in breathing apparatus enabled them to locate and prevent the fire from spreading any further and it was soon under control. The fire, which started accidentally, was extinguished by isolating the appliance from the electrics and removing it from the property. Fire damage was confined to the cooker area only, with the rest of the flat suffering minor smoke damage. The resident was uninjured and once the scene was made safe, duty of care was left with relatives.
