Property fire

3 fire appliances from Barnstaple and South Molton were mobilised to a property on Orchard Road, Barnstaple following a call from the occupant saying they had a fire in their kitchen, involving the oven. Barnstaple crews were on scene within minutes and soon had the fire under control using 1 hose reel jet and 2 breathing apparatus. Luckily, everyone was able to evacuate safely and there were no casualties. 

This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 17:16hrs. Once the fire was extinguished crews made the area safe and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke. The cooker was destroyed by fire and the kitchen sustained 20% damage by smoke. Crews worked well to prevent the fire from spreading through the remainder of the ground floor.
