Fire Control received a call to an electrical water pump smoking within an outhouse attached to a domestic property in Buckland Monachorum.
Three fire engines from Yelverton, Bere Alston and Crownhill, Plymouth were mobilised.
Fire crews confirmed a subterranean water pump in an external store, measuring 1 metre by 1 metre by 1 metre deep on a wooden base smoking. Fire crews isolated the electrics, removed the frame and tackled fire using two dry powder extinguishers and small tools. Some smoke had percolated into the property which was ventilated. Fire crews requested more dry powder extinguishers and an off road vehicle from Princetown due to difficult access to the incident location. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
