Outdoor fire
We have a number of appliances at a field fire in Newton St Cyres. A number of calls were received to the Control Room, and when the initial appliances arrived they immediately requested additional resources be mobilised due to the extent of fire.
We have a number of appliances at a field fire in Newton St Cyres. A number of calls were received to the Control Room, and when the initial appliances arrived they immediately requested additional resources be mobilised due to the extent of fire.
The following resources were sent to the incident ;
The Drone issued from Clyst St George
2 fire engines a 4 X 4 and an all terrain vehicle from Middlemoor
1 all terrain vehicle and a 4 X 4 from Okehampton
1 fire engine from Teignmouth
2 fire engines and a water carrier from Danes Castle
2 fire engines from Exmouth
1 welfare unit from Ivybridge
The incident command unit from Honiton
1 fire engine from Tiverton
And multiple officers.
The fire involved 2 fields of approximately 100 acres of standing wheat, 20% of which was damaged by fire on multiple fire fronts. Crews were able to extinguish the fire using 4 hoses, multiple beaters, 2 all terrain vehicles, a Land Rover with a wildfire pump, portable pumps and 1 drone.
Farmers were able to create fire breaks with 2 tractors.
This is believed to have been accidental.
