Property fire

3 fire appliances from Braunton and Barnstaple were mobilised following calls from local residents reporting smoke issuing from the upstairs window of a house on South Street, Braunton, next to The Mariners Arms public house. Fire Control confirmed at the time that all persons had evacuated. 

Crews were soon on scene and had the fire, which started accidentally in a first floor bedroom, under control. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, followed by a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke. The bedroom was destroyed by fire, with the remainder of the first floor suffering heat damage. Luckily there were no casualties.
