Incident - Flat Fire

Two fire engines from Paignton and one from Torquay were mobilised to reports of a fire involving a flat at the above location with someone believed to be inside.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a fire on the first floor of a 3 storey property.  Firefighters in breathing apparatus located a male casualty on the first floor, he was rescued and handed over to the waiting Ambulance crew.

Details - Fire in first floor bed sit in 3 storey property measuring 6m x 15m.  Fire confined to flat which was 90% damaged by smoke and 40% damaged by fire, there was some smoke damage to the rest of the property. One adult male rescued by Fire Service. 6 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and positive pressure fan used.

The rescued male and a 2nd male casualty were transferred to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
