Incident - Fire Involving Conservatory Of Domestic Property

Date: 06/12/2018
Time: 14:25
Location: Wyndham Road, Bridgwater
Area: Somerset
County: Somerset

3 fire appliances from Bridgwater and Taunton were initially mobilised to a property fire, following a call from the occupant saying their tumble dryer had caught fire inside their wooden conservatory.

Our first crew arrived on scene at 14:31hrs and, after investigating, confirmed at 14:37hrs that smoke was issuing from the conservatory to the rear of the semi detached property. 2 breathing apparatus wearers set to work with 1 hose reel jet and a safety jet (set up as a precaution).

At 14:44hrs the 3rd appliance from Taunton was returned en route, not required, as the fire was brought quickly under control and prevented from spreading to the rest of the property. The cause was established as having started from an electric outside light and not the tumble dryer, as initially reported. Once extinguished, this resulted in only minor damage to the conservatory roof and installation. A thermal imaging camera was then used to confirm there were no hotspots, before crews made the area safe and left duty of care with the occupier. This incident is now complete and these are the full and final details.
