Incident - Shed and Outbuilding Involved In Fire

Date: 10/08/2018
Time: 00:22
Location: Leypark Road, Exeter
Area: Central
County: Devon

A fire appliance from Middlemoor was initially mobilised to a hedge on fire at the above location. However, after multiple calls from local residents started coming in to Fire Control, confirming the fire was quickly spreading to a shed, a further fire appliance from Danes Castle was mobilised to assist Middlemoor crew.

On arrival of the first crew they confirmed smoke and flames were issuing from the rear garden of the property on Leypark Road, later confirming further fire spread had occurred to an adjacent concrete outbuilding. However, no additional appliances were requested as crews soon had the fire under control.

This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 00:55hrs. 1 hose reel jet only was using to extinguish the fire, which had been started deliberately, and which completely destroyed the 8ft x 6ft shed, along with 7m of hedgerow. The concrete outbuilding was only slightly damaged by fire. Once crews were satisfied that there were no hotspots and the scene had been safe, duty of care was left the owners and the Police.
