Fire control received multiple calls reporting a vehicle fire on the M5 southbound between junction 27 to junction 28.
Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Cullumpton and one fire appliance from Tiverton to attend this incident.
On arrival the incident commander confirmed one car well alight. Crews got to work with two breathing appartus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
Crew made steady progress and promptly extinguished the fire. The crew continued to dampen down and check for hot spots using a themral imaging camera.
This was believed to be an accidental fire. The incident was left with the owner of the vehicle.
