Fire safety education and school visits

The safety of children and young people in our community is really important to us. The work we do with schools and education providers helps children and young people to understand how to prevent a fire and how to act if there is a fire. It is also a vital step towards reducing the risk of fire.

At the moment, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are not able to visit schools.

In 'normal' times, we have an education programme which runs throughout the year. We visit over 700 schools and about 80,000 pupils to:

  • deliver key fire safety and prevention messages
  • raise awareness of hazards at home and outdoors and;
  • show children and young people how they can keep themselves and others safe.

We have fire and road safety education resources available, including a series of three videos to temporarily replace our school visits.
