Fire safety education and school visits during current restrictions

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation we will not be able to visit schools until further guidance is given and restrictions lifted.

We do have some resources available to help deliver Primary Fire Safety, Road Safety and Water Safety on our webpages. We are also exploring ways in which we can deliver our education sessions via online presentations. We hope to have these up and running by the second half of the autumn term and sessions will be booked as for a regular visit. If you would be interested in this or have any other queries please get in touch via education@dsfire.gov.uk

The safety of children and young people in our community is important to us. The work we do with schools and education providers helps children and young people to understand how to prevent a fire and how to act if there is a fire. It is also a vital step towards reducing the risk of fire.

We have an education programme which runs throughout the year. We visit over 700 schools and about 80,000 pupils to:

  • deliver key fire safety and prevention messages
  • raise awareness of hazards at home and outdoors and;
  • show children and young people how they can keep themselves and others safe.

Should you have any queries please email the Schools and Education Team at education@dsfire.gov.uk
