Incident - Road Traffic Collision - Person trapped

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from ambulance reporting a road traffic collision at the above location.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Ilminster, one fire appliance from Chard and a duty officer to attend this incident.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a two vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped within the vehicle. Ambulance were on scene assessing the casualty and liaising with fire crews.

Police were also in attendance assisting fire service.

The paramedics requested a full extrication to take place to release the casualty. The incident commander tasked the crew to remove the roof from the vehicle to release the casualty.

The crew promptly got to work with hydraulic cutting equipment, small tools to release the casualty. One hose reel jet and carbon dioxide fire extinguisher were on standby.

The casualty was extricated and conveyed to hospital via land ambulance.
