Several calls were received by Fire Control reporting flames visible from a train at Plymouth Railway Station. Three appliances from Greenbank and Camels Head, a Water Carrier from Plympton, a 4x4 vehicle from Camels Head, along with an Operational Assurance Officer, were immediately dispatched.

Upon arrival of the crews it was confirmed that there was a fire involving the main engine of a train, and crews set to work using two sets of breathing apparatus and one compressed air foam jet., They were also able to confirm that there were no passengers or cargo on the train.

00:47 - The incident has now been handed back to railway staff 

01:07 - FINAL DETAILS Crews confirmed that there had been a fire in the battery of a diesel locomotive, two sets of breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam jet and one thermal imaging camera were used to extinguish the fire. Damage was contained to the battery bay and there was approximately 5% damage in total to the train. The cause of the fire was accidental.
