Fire control received a caller from a concerned resident who had heard what sounded like a bang and on inspection found a car was on fire so called the Fire Service.
One fire engine from our Okehampton station along with a support appliance from our Neighbouring fire service in Cornwall was mobilised from Launceston.
On arrival crews confirmed this vehicle to be well alight and set to work using two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reel jets.
There was no sign of the vehicle owner at the scene and ignition appeared to be of a suspicious nature. The police have been called to attend.
This fire has now been extinguished. Crews confirmed the vehicle was away from the main road and had fully perished in the fire.
These are the final details.
